CSA 2016 Week 5

Butter Lettuce, Peas, Sweet Green Onions, Fresh Garlic, Swiss Chard & the last of the Garlic Scapes.

There is lots of Butter lettuce. Butter Lettuce is a sweet lettuce and because of it shape and size is the easiest lettuce to use as a lettuce wrap.

Peas & Swiss Chard

1 bunch of Swiss Chard,Chopped with stems and leaves separate

Snap or Snow Peas (about a pint

3 pieces of Bacon, cut into 1/2 in piece

2 Fresh Garlic, chopped

Put a pan on medium heat and cook bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set it on a paper towel and plate to the side. Keep the grease in the pan and add on the chard stems and peas. Cook those for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the garlic and let cook for a minute. Add the chard leaves and cook for a few more minutes until the leaves are wilted. Add back in bacon and serve.

Grilled Green Onions

1 bunch of green onions

olive oil

Heat up grill. Line green onions on a tray. Spray or drizzle with olive oil. Place on grill an cook turning occasionally until the onions start to char then serve.
